Many TITTIMITTI® products are made in Italy by specialized textile and hosiery manufacturers. Other products are made by carefully selected specialists in Turkey and Sri Lanka when their particular expertise is appropriate for the product.

Understanding Our Organic-Cotton Socks
TITTIMITTI® offers more than one organic-cotton construction.
Some products use 100% organic cotton in the main knitted sock fabric. These styles do not contain polyester, nylon, acrylic, spandex or elastane blended throughout that fabric.
On certain 100% cotton styles, a very small natural-rubber thread completely wrapped in cotton is used inside the cuff to help the sock remain in place.
Other products contain 98% organic cotton and 2% elastane. The small elastane component provides additional stretch and helps the product recover its shape.
These constructions solve different needs. TITTIMITTI® identifies the applicable composition instead of presenting them as identical.
Undyed and Unbleached Organic Cotton
Selected women’s, men’s and children’s socks are made with organic cotton that remains undyed and unbleached.
These terms describe different characteristics:

Organic concerns the cotton and the documentation applicable to its production.

Undyed means textile dye was not added to create the finished color.
-
Unbleached means the cotton was not conventionally whitened to produce an optical-white appearance.
The finished cotton may retain a naturally warm cream, ivory, ecru or light-beige color. Small variations between production batches are normal.

Fine Mercerized Cotton and Filo di Scozia
Cotton does not produce one universal texture or type of hosiery.
Mercerization is a specialized textile process that can affect the cotton’s smoothness, strength, regularity, appearance and luster. Fine mercerized cotton is particularly suitable for lightweight socks, dress hosiery and refined footwear.
Filo di Scozia belongs to this fine-cotton hosiery tradition. The term does not automatically mean that a product is organic or composed of cotton at 100%. The composition shown on the individual product page remains the reference.
Merino Wool and Natural Silk
Merino wool is used in selected socks, base layers and other products intended for cooler temperatures or changing conditions.
Natural silk can contribute a smoother, lighter and more refined feel. Selected TITTIMITTI® socks combine:

25% natural silk
These products contain no polyester, nylon, acrylic or elastane in their stated fiber composition.
Other wool products use different constructions and may contain functional fibers for strength, structure or shape retention. Always compare the exact percentages shown on the product page.

A Family-Run U.S. Brand Working Directly With Specialists
TITTIMITTI® was founded in 2018 and remains family run.
Being a smaller independent company allows us to stay close to the products carrying our name. We can discuss materials, yarns, constructions and customer requests directly with specialist manufacturers.
For applicable Italian hosiery, TITTIMITTI® works directly with Calzificio Piccinelli in Mazzano, Brescia. The Piccinelli family’s hosiery manufacturing history began in 1970.
TITTIMITTI® contributes product direction, material preferences and customer feedback. The Piccinelli team contributes the technical hosiery knowledge required to turn a material and product concept into a finished sock.
An excellent fiber does not automatically create an excellent product. The yarn, knitting construction, machinery, finishing and experience of the people making the product must work together.

Italy remains central to the TITTIMITTI® collection, especially for fine hosiery, organic-cotton socks, mercerized cotton, Filo di Scozia, Merino wool, silk and alpaca products.
For selected high-organic-cotton everyday socks, TITTIMITTI® works with a specialist hosiery manufacturer in Turkey.
For selected cashmere, wool and premium knitted accessories, TITTIMITTI® works with a specialist manufacturer in Sri Lanka whose knitting heritage traces to a German family enterprise established in 1870.
The manufacturing country may change according to the product. The requirement for transparent composition and appropriate specialist expertise does not.

No. Organic cotton is used in applicable products. Wool, silk, cashmere, alpaca and conventional cotton should not be understood as organic unless specifically supported.
Are all organic-cotton socks 100% cotton?
No. TITTIMITTI® offers both 100% organic-cotton constructions and high-organic-cotton products such as 98% organic cotton with 2% elastane.
Does “natural fiber” mean that a product contains no synthetic fibers?
Not automatically. A product may be organized according to its principal natural fiber while containing another fiber for a practical purpose. Always read the exact composition.
Is TITTIMITTI® GOTS certified as a brand?
TITTIMITTI® does not claim brand-wide GOTS certification. Applicable documentation supports defined organic-cotton yarns, suppliers, transactions or manufacturing stages.
How should natural-fiber products be washed?
Follow the product label and individual product-page instructions. Cold or cool washing and air drying are generally the most protective options. Wool, silk, cashmere and alpaca normally require gentle care and should not be exposed to high heat.
