WHAT MAKES THIS BALACLAVA DIFFERENT?
Each part has a specific purpose:

HOW THE EAR MEMBRANES WORK
Over each ear, the construction runs from the outside inward:
Virgin wool → concealed windproof membrane → organic cotton lining → skin
The membrane sits between the outer wool and inner cotton. Your child’s ears rest against the cotton lining rather than the membrane.
The inserts help reduce wind passing through the ear areas while allowing water vapor to pass through. Their protection is localized at the ears; the rest of the hood remains knitted wool with a cotton lining.
UNDERSTANDING THE MATERIALS
100% virgin wool outer layer
The wool exterior provides natural insulation. “Virgin wool” means wool that has not previously been used in a finished textile product. It does not by itself describe an organic certification or a particular sheep breed.
100% organic cotton lining
The cotton lining covers the interior, including the ear areas, placing a soft layer between the skin and outer construction.
The two percentages describe the outer fabric and lining separately. The ear membranes are additional functional components.
HEAD AND NECK COVERAGE IN ONE PIECE
The balaclava covers the head, ears, chin and neck while leaving the face open. The lower panels tuck inside outer clothing to help cover the gap around the collar.
Its integrated neck coverage can replace a separate scarf in everyday winter outfits. Adjust the complete outfit to the weather and your child’s activity.

CHOOSE BY HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE
Measure around the widest part of the head, just above the eyebrows and ears. Keep the measuring tape level and comfortably snug.
Use the head measurement first; age is a general guide.

CHECKING THE FIT
The hood should sit comfortably around the head, with the ear inserts positioned over the ears. Check that the face opening stays clear of the eyes, nose and mouth, and that the neck section feels comfortable when tucked inside a coat.
If used beneath a helmet, follow the helmet manufacturer’s guidance and confirm that the additional layer does not affect its fit.
WASHING AND CARE
Machine wash at 30°C / 86°F, following the garment’s care label. Use a detergent suitable for wool garments.
Do not bleach, tumble dry or iron.

Does wool touch the ears?
The organic cotton lining covers the ear areas, separating the skin from the wool exterior and concealed membranes.
Is the entire hood windproof?
The windproof membranes are positioned over the ears. They provide targeted ear protection alongside the insulation of the knitted wool exterior.
Is it waterproof?
No waterproof claim is made for this balaclava. Choose appropriate outer clothing for wet weather.
Are the mittens included?
No. Matching wool mittens are available separately. Styled photographs may show both products together.
Can I choose by age alone?
Measure head circumference before ordering. Children of the same age can require different sizes.
