tittimitti® Men's 100% Mercerized Filo di Scozia Cotton Dress & Trouser Socks – Made in Italy
Made in Italy from 100% fine mercerized cotton, these men's dress and trouser socks bring together premium Italian yarn tradition, specialized hosiery manufacturing and something increasingly uncommon in modern retail: a direct relationship between the family behind the brand and the family making the product.
The knitted sock fabric is 100% cotton, with no polyester, nylon or elastane blended throughout the main knitted fabric.
Lightweight, smooth and refined, they are designed for dress shoes, business wear and everyday use when you want the natural feel of fine cotton against the skin.
A Family Business, Working With a Family Business
TITTIMITTI® was founded in 2018 as a family business.
Remaining a family business allows us to stay unusually close to the products that carry our name. Material choices, product ideas and construction decisions do not need to travel through layers of corporate departments before reaching the people actually making the product.
For our Italian hosiery, that relationship extends directly to another family business: Calzificio Piccinelli in Mazzano, Brescia, Italy.
Antonio Piccinelli founded the hosiery company in 1970. His children entered the business during the 1980s, learning the technical knowledge and practical experience required to eventually lead the family company.
Today, the second generation continues that Italian hosiery tradition.
Why Being Close to the Product Matters
Being small is not a limitation we try to hide.
For TITTIMITTI, it is one of the reasons we can remain close to what we sell.
When we consider a material, composition or product detail, the distance between an idea and the people capable of making it can be remarkably short.
For our Italian socks, we work directly with Marco Piccinelli, combining TITTIMITTI's product and natural-fiber direction with the technical hosiery knowledge of a family that has been manufacturing socks in the Brescia area for generations.
That direct relationship gives us something we value greatly: the ability to discuss the actual product, rather than simply selecting from an anonymous mass-market catalog.
Why We Choose Materials Product by Product
We do not believe every sock should be made from the same standardized fiber blend.
Different products have different purposes.
Some TITTIMITTI socks use 98% organic cotton with 2% elastane when additional stretch and recovery are desirable.
Others use 75% extra-fine Merino wool with 25% natural silk.
Some are made from undyed and unbleached organic cotton.
For this particular dress sock, we chose 100% mercerized cotton.
The composition is not an accident or a marketing percentage. It is part of the product design.
What Is Filo di Scozia?
Filo di Scozia is the Italian name traditionally associated with exceptionally fine mercerized cotton yarn. Internationally, similar terminology includes Lisle cotton, Fil d'Écosse in French and Hilo de Escocia in Spanish.
Fine Filo di Scozia yarn is created through specialized processing of high-quality long-staple cotton.
The cotton is spun and twisted, while gassing removes projecting surface fibers, helping create a smoother and cleaner yarn. Mercerization further changes the cotton fiber, improving characteristics such as luster, regularity, strength and color response.
The result is the distinctive smooth, clean and refined appearance associated with fine mercerized cotton hosiery.
Why 100% Cotton Does Not Tell the Whole Story
Two socks can both say “100% cotton” on the label and still be very different products.
Cotton quality, fiber length, spinning, twisting, gassing, mercerization, yarn preparation, knitting construction, machinery, finishing and the knowledge of the people producing the sock all influence the finished result.
That is why TITTIMITTI looks beyond the percentage printed on a fiber label.
We want to understand what cotton is being used, how the yarn has been prepared, who is making the product and how the finished sock actually performs and feels.
Made in Brescia, Italy
Brescia and the surrounding Lombardy region have a long relationship with hosiery manufacturing and textile engineering.
This is the environment in which the Piccinelli family has developed its hosiery expertise since 1970, combining accumulated manufacturing knowledge with continuing research into materials and modern production technology.
For TITTIMITTI, Made in Italy is therefore more than wording on a label.
It identifies where this product's material knowledge, hosiery expertise and manufacturing come together.
Boutique Does Not Mean Less. It Means Closer.
Large-scale retail has advantages. Scale can create enormous selections, distribution networks and standardized products for very broad markets.
TITTIMITTI was built differently.
We would rather remain close enough to our products to ask why a particular fiber is being used, why a construction is appropriate and whether a product fits the material philosophy behind our name.
That does not mean rejecting modern manufacturing. Fine hosiery depends on sophisticated technology.
It means keeping people, judgment and product knowledge close to the technology.
For this sock, that relationship connects a family business in the United States with a family hosiery manufacturer in Italy.
One product. A remarkably short distance between the idea and the people making it.

The TITTIMITTI® Difference
We believe premium natural-fiber products begin with better questions.
What material is touching the skin?
Where did the yarn come from?
Why was this composition chosen?
Who developed the product?
Who manufactured it?
And does the finished product deserve to carry the TITTIMITTI® name?
For these men's dress socks, the answer brings together 100% fine mercerized cotton, the Filo di Scozia tradition, Italian hosiery knowledge, the Piccinelli family's manufacturing experience and TITTIMITTI's direct involvement as a family-owned brand.
A family business in America. A family hosiery manufacturer in Italy. Made with care in Brescia.
