Lightweight Merino-Blend Thermal Leggings

Not every cold day requires a heavy thermal layer.

These TITTIMITTI® women’s leggings weigh approximately 150 g / 5.3 oz., creating a lightweight option for cooler weather, travel and layered dressing.

The relatively low weight makes them easier to wear beneath regular clothing than bulky fleece-backed or heavyweight thermal bottoms. They can be worn under trousers, winter clothing or outdoor layers when you want additional insulation without excessive thickness.

The fabric is made from:

50% Merino Wool
50% Polyester

We state both fibers clearly because this is not a 100% Merino-wool garment. It is a deliberately balanced Merino-wool and polyester blend designed to combine qualities from both fibers.

Why Combine Merino Wool and Polyester?

Pure Merino wool and polyester have different characteristics. Combining them creates a fabric intended to balance natural insulation and moisture absorption with durability, shape retention and easier everyday care.

Merino wool contributes:

  • Natural insulation.
  • Breathability.
  • Moisture-vapor absorption.
  • Natural temperature-regulating qualities.
  • A softer and finer feel than many traditional coarse wools.

Polyester contributes:

  • Additional durability.
  • Improved shape retention.
  • Wrinkle resistance.
  • Faster drying.
  • Practical support for repeated layering and everyday use.

This blend is not intended to imitate a pure Merino garment. It serves a different purpose: providing meaningful Merino-wool content in a lightweight, durable and layering-friendly construction.

50% Merino Wool — Not a Token Percentage

Some products marketed as “Merino blend” contain only a small percentage of wool.

These leggings contain 50% Merino wool, making wool one-half of the declared fiber composition rather than a minor addition.

The remaining 50% is polyester. We do not hide the synthetic component behind the word “blend.” Both fibers and both percentages are disclosed so customers can compare this product accurately with pure Merino leggings, lower-wool-content blends and completely synthetic thermal underwear.

Half Merino wool. Half polyester. No vague composition language.

Approximately 150 g / 5.3 oz.

Weight is an important but frequently omitted detail when comparing base layers.

These leggings weigh approximately 150 grams / 5.3 ounces. That positions them as a lightweight thermal layer rather than a thick, heavyweight winter legging.

The lightweight construction is useful when you want:

  • Additional warmth without heavy bulk.
  • A base layer that fits beneath everyday trousers.
  • A compact layer for travel.
  • A lighter option for transitional weather.
  • Flexible layering during changing temperatures.
  • Thermal bottoms that do not feel like heavy outerwear.

They can also be combined with warmer outer layers when conditions require more insulation.

Base Layer or Mid-Layer?

The close, slim fit allows these leggings to be worn as thermal bottoms beneath other clothing. Depending on your personal layering system and sensitivity to wool, they may also be worn over a thin first layer as a lightweight mid-layer.

They are suitable beneath:

  • Everyday trousers.
  • Jeans with sufficient room.
  • Ski pants.
  • Snow pants.
  • Outdoor trousers.
  • Work clothing.
  • Travel clothing.
  • Other cold-weather layers.

Because clothing fit varies, allow enough room in the outer garment for comfortable movement and layering.

Mid-Rise, Slim Fit

These leggings feature a mid-rise waist and slim silhouette.

The close-fitting shape helps reduce bunching and excess fabric beneath outer garments. A soft elastic waistband keeps the construction straightforward and flexible without buttons, zippers or other bulky closures.

These are thermal layering leggings rather than compression tights. They are designed to follow the body closely but should not be confused with medical, shaping or athletic-compression clothing.

Lightweight Jersey Construction

The leggings are made from Merino-wool-blend jersey fabric.

Jersey is a knitted construction valued for its flexibility and ability to follow the body. In this product, the lightweight jersey structure supports the slim fit while remaining practical beneath other garments.

The construction is intended for layering and comfortable movement rather than heavy stand-alone protection from severe weather.

For Cooler Days and Changing Seasons

These lightweight thermal bottoms can be useful during:

  • Autumn and early winter.
  • Cool spring weather.
  • Cold offices and indoor environments.
  • Winter travel.
  • Walking and sightseeing.
  • Commuting.
  • Outdoor events.
  • Cabin and lodge stays.
  • Ski and snow trips beneath appropriate outerwear.
  • Everyday layered dressing.

Their suitability for a particular temperature depends on activity level, outer clothing, wind, humidity and individual sensitivity to cold. They are a lightweight insulating layer—not a guarantee of warmth in every condition.

Merino Wool and Moisture

Merino wool can absorb moisture vapor within the fiber while continuing to provide insulation. This is one reason Merino wool is widely used in clothing designed for changing temperatures and layered wear.

Polyester generally absorbs less water into the fiber and dries more quickly than wool. In this 50/50 construction, the two fibers contribute different characteristics.

We avoid describing the fabric as “moisture-proof” or promising that it will always remain dry. Comfort depends on activity, weather and the complete layering system.

Designed for Travel

At approximately 150 g, these leggings add relatively little weight to a suitcase, backpack or winter travel bag.

They can be packed as:

  • A lightweight thermal layer for a cold destination.
  • Backup warmth for unpredictable weather.
  • A layer for overnight flights and long journeys.
  • Thermal bottoms for skiing or mountain travel.
  • A practical layer for hotels, cabins and colder indoor spaces.

The polyester component also supports shape retention and wrinkle resistance, which can be helpful when the leggings are repeatedly packed and unpacked.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

The Merino-wool-blend jersey fabric is produced according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 concerns textile testing for harmful substances. It should not be confused with an organic certification, an animal-welfare certification or a claim that the TITTIMITTI® brand itself is certified under every standard associated with a supplier.

TITTIMITTI® distinguishes the product’s exact composition, manufacturing origin and applicable textile standard rather than combining them into a broader unsupported claim.

  • Do not use chlorine bleach.
